Beer tour to top five pubs in Prague

A beer belongs to Czechs like a fish belongs to a river. And that is why Czechs beat all other nations in a beer consumption. Moreover, we Czechs simply have the best beer in the world. There is no discussion about it. And because the beer is drunk in pubs, we have some really old places in Prague. This beer tour to top five pubs in Prague will show you the most interesting ones.

So what is this tour about? We are definitely not crawling through pubs in very large groups. This tour is done in more civilized way and even though we are drinking, you will certainly remember everything. Because our best pubs are in the old city centre on both sides of Vltava river, you will see many historic places too. So this tour generally combines beer drinking, sightseeing, talking about Prague and having a good time.

Pubs in Malá Strana

Our tour to top five pubs in Prague starts in Malá Strana. Right under the Prague castle. We meet in front of Starbucks but dont get confused by that. It is still a beer tour. Our first pub is hidden in the oldest street of Prague, right in the middle of the main tourist area, but still with mostly Czech patrons. This pub will show you the authentic Czech pub culture without any touristic additions. You know, some places just play the traditional authentic game to attract tourists. This pub does not have to do it. And in this one we will have Kozel beer.

U Kocoura

The second place is little tricky. We choose from two pubs. If the first one, the one that is closer, is full, we are going to another one. Nevertheless, both pubs are located in one of Pragues oldest buildings and a quality of their beer is just outstanding. And moreover, bartenders are super friendly. Just like us.

Beseda

The third and the last pub on the left bank of Vltava river is really special. If it is not freezing or raining heavily, you may see patrons drinking outside of it. Sometimes like hundred of them. Malá Strana is different from the Old Town in amount of tourists. Tourists certainly visit this area during a day, but in the evening most of them go to the Old Town. Because of that, some streets in the Old Town forbid drinking of alcohol on the street. Sometimes the noise is just too much. Malá Strana does not have such problem and people drinking here are mostly local. And they are usually quiet. Therefore nobody is banning anyone from drinking on the street. And in this one they have really good Pilsner. Just slightly colder than other places.

Pubs in the Old Town

On our way to the Old Town we will cross the Charles Bridge. So really, as promised, some sightseeing too. You will see the Old Town is much more crowded and going through these crowds is a price to pay on our beer tour to the top five pubs in Prague. But these pubs are amazing and their beer is like a cream.

Our fourth stop is the second biggest pub in Prague. A building from the 15th century hosts the pub since 1501. They have great Pilsner but we will try their dark Kozel. It is still lager but very different from other lagers of light color. Most people say they like it more than Pilsner.

U Vejvodu

And the last pub, only two minutes from the fourth one, is technically the oldest pub in Prague. But it is complicated. The first pub was there already in 13th century but the building burnt down in 1678. So they built a new house and pub was rebuilt too.

You will see mostly locals there because the pub is discreet from outside. But they have really great Pilsner which attracts locals from all Prague. They brew their own beer too but we will have Pilsner. Pilsner is simply Pilsner. The best beer in the world. And here in this pub you will also hear one very creepy story that happened there in 1981.

U dvou koček

Tour starts at 7pm and typically ends around 10pm. We will give you tips about other places to go so your night can only start there.
